Rod graduated from the University of Adelaide with Honours in Civil Engineering.
Rod is one of South Australia’s most highly respected senior public servants with an unrivalled reputation for delivering major projects and programs recognised at the highest levels of both State and Federal Government.
Rod has extensive experience in project delivery, planning and environmental assessment and has a demonstrated track record of achievement within
South Australia working in both Government and the private sector. His achievements to date include projects such as the Glenelg/West Beach Upgrade in 2001 and the Adelaide’s Riverbank redevelopments including the Convention Centre extensions, developments at Outer Harbor, Port River Expressway, South Road/Anzac Highway the Glenelg Tramline Extensions to Victoria Square, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Northern Expressway, Gallipoli Underpass and South Australia’s FINA compliant State Aquatic Centre and GP Plus Health Care Centre.
As Chief Executive of the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and Rod’s responsibilities include the unprecedented $2.6 billion investment to rebuild Adelaide’s public transport network and the $535 million upgrade of the iconic Adelaide Oval. He is also South Australia’s Commissioner of Highways and the State’s Coordinator-General for the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.
